Riverview Park

A section adopted by Girl Scout Troop 1811

Riverview Park is a community park on Warburton Avenue between Nodine Street and Pinecrest Drive. On Earth Day, 2023, Troop 1811 delineated an area where Scouts planted a variety of native plants, mulched shrubs, added rock borders and did a clean-up.

Species planted, with thanks to Eugena Swartz of Roots & Boots for her guidance:
Polemonium reptans (Jacob's ladder), Asclepias tuberosa (butterfly weed), Chelone glabra (turtlehead), Echinacea purpurea (coneflower), Monarda (bee balm) and wild asters. Scouts also mulched shrubs and are remediating some Artemisia vulgaris (mugwort) by smothering it with cardboard and mulch. Future efforts will include installing Aquilegia canadensis (red columbine), Panicum virgatum (native switchgrass) and Polystichum acrostichoides (Christmas fern), plus protecting some native irises that have come up in the park, and adding some more.
